Tuesdays
~ by Jay

On Tuesdays, I see patients from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, so I have the morning free. I could get a lot done, but I don't. I've decided this is my time for personal renewal, not household chores. So the dishes stay in the dishwasher, the newspaper is still scattered on the table, and I am headed to the library. Alone.

My favorite thing about Tuesdays: I drop my daughter off at school and come home to an empty house. Sam's at work, the dogs are asleep in their crates, no one knows I'm here, so the phone doesn't ring. I can go upstairs and take a shower - as long as I want. As hot as I want. No one will inadvertently start running the water downstairs and scald me. No one will come running in to ask where the Polly Pocket shoes are. I won't have to fight the dog for the bathmat. I can turn the TV on and watch what I want to while I dry off and dress.

Ah, luxury.

This made me think, I really must appreciate things as they are now before I have children!

Monday mornings are my luxury time. For 6 months I have either a walk or a phone call with a close friend right after we drop the kids at school. At a minimum we think of one another at that inviolable time.

Oh envy, envy, envy.

On a less bitter note, what a nice description of your time for yourself.
